Not Goa, this is India's most tourist-friendly destination

Delhi Best Tourist Friendly Destination

Despite the deadly air circulating in the national capital, the survey has ranked Delhi as the most tourist-friendly among all 30 Indian states. A total of 11 parameters were kept in mind to evaluate the performance of each participating state, reported The Times of India.

While it was Delhi that topped the chart, Maharashtra and Goa grabbed the second spot. Other states like Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh featured in the top 10 list.

It came to light that the northeastern states fared poorly in the survey, as they were held back by lack of air and rail connectivity. Delhi, on the other hand, managed to win the Destination Leader award as well.

The survey states on the basis of expenditure on tourism, tourist arrivals, per capita gross state domestic product, the presence of branded hotel rooms, the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, the extent of urbanization, ease of doing business, and many such factors.

Among the 11 parameters, based on which the destinations were ranked, the national capital topped in five, however, failed to secure a good rank in 'ease of doing business', state expenditure on tourism, and effectiveness of marketing campaign.

While this is not a great achievement, considering the critical situation in Delhi, it must be noted that this survey helps the government identify the positives and negatives in the state.
