Two Injured as Tree Falls on Recovery Loco

Two persons were injured after a tree fell on a service locomotive heading towards Coonoor from Mettupalayam to clear some fallen trees and boulders from the railway track on Tuesday to clear the track for traffic. 

Tree fall and rolling of boulders during the rain on Sunday resulted in suspension of services over the last two days. Officials in Coonoor said that tree falls had led to Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) services being suspended from Sunday. 

Service Train

A service train, with around 10 to 15 workers had been dispatched to clear the route. When the train exited a small tunnel near Adderly Railway Station, a tree collapsed onto the train, injuring Marudhachalam and Syed Ibrahim. 

Syed Ibrahim escaped with minor injuries while Marudhachalam’s injuries are said to be severe in nature.
