Railways Suspends Three Employees: Indore-Ratlam Train Derailed

Railways on Monday suspended three employees, including the locomotive driver, guard and locomotive inspector in connection of derailment of Indore-Ratlam DEMU train. "The incident has been taken seriously and an inquiry has been ordered into it, said a spokesperson of Ratlam division of the Western Railways. All the eight wheels of the train engine got derailed when the train was coming to yard section at Indore railway station on Sunday night. However, no casualty was reported in the incident.

Railway has formed a committee to inquire all aspects of the incident and submit the report at the earliest. The committee comprises of senior operation manager, senior technical engineer, senior communication manager, signal manager and senior electrical engineer of the division. The train number 79310 derailed at point number-129 at around 8:35 pm. The train was scheduled to depart for Ratlam at 8:15 pm, but it was not given green signal as another train 12913 Indore-Nagpur Trishatabdi Express was scheduled to cross the main line at around 8:30 pm.

As per official sources, the train was on the second line and railroad was closed for any movement of train. "Signal was given to train no.12913, but train no.79310 started due to which all wheels of the train locomotive got derailed. The train engine got derailed as the locomotive driver overshot the signal, disrupting traffic on the line number 1 from Indore yard," said an official. Around 900 passengers were travelling in the train when the incident took place. An accident relief train (ART) was immediately called from Ujjain and the train was later sent with help of another train. The passengers were sent in another DEMU train at around 10:10 pm.
