These clinics will be providing timely medical assistance to rail accident victims as well as commoners at a token charge of Re 1.

After PIL filed in Bombay HC in March by rail activist Samir Zaveri on the issue of lack of prompt medical help in case of accidents on railway tracks, the Bombay High Court ordered the Railways to set up EMRs at all stations on the Central and Western Line in a phased manner.

The five EMRs have been set up at Dadar, Kurla, Wadala, Mulund and Ghatkopar stations, in association with city-based medical firm Magicdil Health For All Pvt Ltd. While choosing the station to establish 'One Rupee Clinic', Magicdil asked for data from railway authority regarding where most number of accidents take place and which are the most crowded stations.

These 24X7 EMRs will be having a team of 3 to 4 MBBS doctors. Magicdil is planning to start OPD of specialists doctors for masses at the cost of Just Re 1 as consultation charge. Apart from consultation, blood pressure checkup and blood sugar checkup, are being done at very minimal charges. After Central railway and Harbour railway now Railway authorities are planning to establish such clinics on western railway stations too.
