Railway Employee Gets 3 Years’ Jail in Graft

Principal Special Judge Gayathri Devi of CBI cases on Friday convicted and sentenced a railway employee to three years’ rigorous imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 10,000 for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (Anti-Corruption Wing), Visakhapatnam registered the case in 2012 against Galla Subramanyam, the then Senior Clerk, Mechanical Wing, (Personnel Branch) of South Central Railway, Vijayawada, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000 from the complainant, who is also railway employee for processing of his two pending bills.

Subramanyam was caught red-handed by the CBI while demanding and accepting the bribe amount from the complainant in 2012. After completion of trial, the judge sentenced Galla Subramanyam to undergo rigorous imprisonment for the offence under various Sections of PC Act, 1988.
